Strategies for Clean Energy Economy

The Yale Environmental Law Association is hosting leading energy strategists in New Haven for a discussion on clean technology legislative reform and investment strategies Wednesday, April 20.

“Unlocking Investment in the Clean Energy Economy,” will include a keynote address by Connecticut’s Commissioner of Environmental Protection Daniel Esty and Reed Hundt, Coalition for Green Capital CEO. A panel discussion will follow featuring Richard Kauffman, chairman of Levi Strauss & Co and CEO of Cofra Holdings AG, Ken Berlin, general counsel and secretary to Coalition for Green Capital, and Michael Gergen, partner and member of the Energy Regulatory and Markets group at Latham & Watkins.

“Reed Hundt and the Coalition for Green Capital have laid out a bold new vision to spur investment in green energy in a way that draws bipartisan support,” said Miles Farmer, a Yale law student and event organizer. “The Coalition has stepped into an area where there was previously political pessimism, offering a clear path to lower regulatory barriers, increase market competition, and create a more stable investment climate for clean energy.”

At the event, Dan Esty, recently named head of Connecticut’s DEP, will explain how these new proposals to cut the cost of green energy will affect state-level development, Reed Hundt will look at their potential to change the way energy is financed, and the panel of distinguished experts will examine their chance of passage and the mechanics of how they work.

“Unlocking Investment in the Clean Energy Economy” is free and open to the public. It starts at 4:10 PM at Yale Law School, Room 127; 127 Wall Street. A reception will follow in the Alumni Reading Room.
