Two Appointments At Platte River Ventures

Mark Brown joins Denver-based Platte River Ventures (PRV) as a vice president, and Michelle Eidson as vice president of business development and marketing. PRV is a private equity investment firm for middle market operating companies in the aerospace, industrial services, energy services, agriculture, chemicals, metals, industrial minerals and transportation sectors.

Previously, Brown was a vice president at CHS Capital where he pursued management buyout transactions in the industrial and business service sectors, and served as an investment banking analyst with Citigroup Global markets. Brown holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BBA in finance from the University of Notre Dame. He is also a CFA charter holder.

Eidson's position was created to maintain PRV's access to quality, proprietary investment opportunities, with responsibility for establishing relationships with intermediaries, business owners and industry experts, as well as overseeing the marketing initiatives for the firm. She was previously director of corporate development at EchoStar Corporation and served as a venture capital associate at Holden Capital and as an investment banking associate at JPMorgan Chase & Co. She holds a joint MBA/MA in international relations from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a BA in international studies with a minor in economics from Colby College.

The 10h Annual What's the Deal? Energy Conference is Wed. Oct. 14, at the Crowne Plaza, Cromwell.

Connecticut Business and Industry Association (CBIA) and the Connecticut Power and Energy Society (CPES) join to bring business owners energy-efficient technologies to financial aid for business consumers.

Registration and breakfast at 7:30 a.m.

Noted speakers/panelists include Gina McCarthy, assistant administrator, Office of Air and Radiation, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and Connecticut's fomer commissioner of the Department of Environmental Protection, will update attendees on current federal energy and environmental policy initiatives.

Bradford Nordholm, CEO and managing director, Starwood Energy Group, an affiliate of Starwood Capital Group Global, LLC, a private equity investment firm based in Greenwich, that specializes in energy infrastructure investments. Founded in 2005, Starwood Energy represents nearly $4.9 billion in enterprise value and has developed a deep pipeline of power/energy investment opportunities. This past spring, Starwood Energy signed a power purchase agreement with Arizona Public Service Co. to build the world's largest dispatchable solar plant.
