Face Time With World Business


The U.S. Department of Commerce Middletown office will sponsor a delegation of small- and medium-size companies from Connecticut for travel to Europe and the Middle East. The mission is to "capture international business for Connecticut."

Pre-arranged business meetings will provide an opportunity for Connecticut manufacturers and service providers to meet with international agents, distributors, and end-users whose capabilities are targeted to each U.S. participants’ needs in that particular market.

The group of 20 companies led by Congressman Joe Courtney (D-2nd District) will depart June 4 from Bradley International Airport to Amsterdam, Netherlands. An ambassador’s reception at the U.S. Embassy in The Hague is set for June 5.

Travel plans include destinations in Europe, Middle East and Africa, with meetings set up by embassy commercial offices and consulates.

Congressman Courtney will travel to Brussels with a group of defense companies for meetings with the NATO Procurement Office. Some companies will remain in the Netherlands to participate in prearranged business meetings.

Registration is $250 (airfare and accommodations not included); additional charges apply depending on travel plans.

Guidelines for participation include a company’s potential for business in the targeted regions; certification that the company meets guidelines for participation; products or services must be either produced in the United States, or, if not, marketed under the name of a U.S. firm, and have at least 51 percent U.S. content of the value of the finished product or service.
