CCC Summer Work Feted

CT DEEP Commissioner Dan Esty and CT DOL Acting Commissioner Dennis Murphy showcase the work done this summer by the CT Conservation Corps (CCC) at state parks and forests on Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2:30 p.m. at Kettletown State Park in Southbury.

CCC crews were made up of young men and women, ages 18-25, with a variety of backgrounds, including military veterans - the work they did includes camping cabins and constructing post and rail fencing.

Those completing the program are eligible to earn the OSHA 10 construction certificate, first aid/CPR certification and a pesticide operator’s certification. A new component this year was providing the workers with skills that can be transferred to future careers.
