Most Difficult Manufacturing Jobs To Fill
Manufacturing in Connecticut? The industry is alive and doing well in the state, but filling skilled positions is getting harder.
So what are the top ten most difficult positions in manufacturing to fill? The answer to that plus a list of specific skills most in demand will be discussed at a workforce summit Tuesday, June 21. The leading educational institutions producing the most highly valued employees will also be reported to attendees.
The CBIA 2011 Manufacturing Workforce Survey, commissioned by Regional Center for Next Generation Manufacturing (RCNGM) and sponsored by J.H. Cohn, will be also released at the event. The report identifies the current and future workforce needs of the state's manufacturers.
Also on the agenda are state leaders talking about a perspective on plans for economic and workforce development in manufacturing; a panel discussion on manufacturing workforce needs.
Catherine Smith, commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD), will give the keynote address on manufacturing and the new vision for job creation in Connecticut.
The summit is sponsored by Citizens Bank, Pullman and Comley LLC, and The United Illuminating Company. Co-presenters of the event are RCNGM, CONNSTEP, Aerospace Components Manufacturers, New Haven Manufacturers Association, Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology, and the Smaller Manufacturers Association of Connecticut.
The event, 8:30 a.m. to noon, will be held at the Marriott Rocky Hill.
