Upgrade For Air Cargo at Halifax

Halifax Stanfield International Airport in Canada will begin work on a multi-tenant cargo facility at an estimated cost of $15 million.

The 40,000-square-foot building will feature an 8,000-square-foot area for temperature-controlled cargo and will be located near the new IMP hangar, which is accessible through a taxiway from the runway.

The new building will help retain the quality of perishable products, which are kept in cold storage until flight departure.

Halifax International Airport Authority (HIAA), a locally controlled, non-share capital corporation, was incorporated in November of 1995. In 2000, Halifax International Airport Authority took over the management of Halifax Stanfield International Airport, as Transport Canada relinquished its role of operator, and became landlord and regulator.
