New Haven Culinary Tour Plus Iron Chefs Battle


Culinary Walking Tour & Iron Chef Elm City will happen this weekend, April 25 and 26, in downtown New Haven at Gateway Community College, 60 Sargent Dr.

Tour begins at 1:45 p.m., Iron Chef competition begins at noon.

A guided three-hour walk through the scenic and historic streets of downtown New Haven will offer participants the opportunity to sample famous New Haven culinary destinations.

The tour, which costs $59, begins at Davenport’s at the Top of the Omni New Haven Hotel at Yale, rain or shine.

On Sunday, defending Iron Chef Champion Arturo Franco-Camacho of Bespoke takes on two new adversaries: Rafael Palomino of Pacifico, and Manual Romero of Ibiza, during this battle to crown the best local chef. Using a local "secret" ingredient, the chefs will create an appetizer, entree and dessert.

Those who wish to stay in town can ask for the Stay the Night Package, that offers a one or two night hotel stay at Study at Yale, Premiere Hotel & Suites or New Haven Hotel. Also of interest is the "Endless Forms: Charles Darwin, Natural Science and the Visual Arts" exhibit at the Yale Center for British Art, which runs through May 3.
